SUNMARKE ALUMNI JOINS THE #1 UNIVERSITY FOR TECHNOLOGY IN THE US
Former Sunmarke student and Head Boy, Majed Sharif is currently in his freshman semester, majoring in Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University.
Hailing from Sunmarke’s Sixth Form, studying A Level Computer Science, Economics, Maths and Further Maths, Majed spent his time perfecting his coding abilities and developing his problem-solving skills using algorithms and programming languages.

So, Majed, fill us in!
BEST MOMENTS SO FAR:
I have made it into the Carnegie Mellon University basketball team so am thrilled that I get to be part of such a great club. It’s been great to get involved with sports, make new friendships and immerse myself into all aspects of university life.
CHALLENGING MOMENTS SO FAR:
These past few months have been filled with some ups and downs, mainly in terms of the move overseas – and getting adjusted to the college workload has definitely been no easy feat!
BEST PREPARATION FOR LIFE GAINED AT SUNMARKE?
My Computer Science course at Sunmarke really enabled me to think more creatively and analytically, so it helped me be ahead of the game, and I’ve spent most of my time at CMU enhancing my coding skills further and learning about abstract concepts in Mathematics.
Being the Head Boy and also a member of the Student Leadership Committee was an informative and eye-opening experience for me – as I had the opportunity to organise many charitable and student-initiated events and also connect and interact with the Senior Leaders of the School – so that has been good for conversing with my Professors and also for getting involved with similar committees here at university.
