Active Minds is open to all pupils from FS1 to Year 2 and children are split into multiple classes to cater for the wide age span. Each day there is a varying range of activities and opportunities on offer for all children. Active Minds gives children the opportunity to collaborate, investigate, explore and socialise with a wider circle of peers.

A typical afternoon with Active Minds would be as follows; children remain with their class teacher for enrichment activities before going for lunch at 1:30pm. After enjoying lunch children will begin their first activity of the afternoon which could be creative crafts, music and movement, gardening, STEAM activities or languages. Children will then have the opportunity to visit the library, take part in some outdoor activities or spend some time being digital detectives. After spending an afternoon with the Active Minds Programme children will be excited, engaged and intrigued by all they have learnt.

At Sunmarke, participation in extra-curricular activities is as important as academic achievement. We are keen to provide children with a holistic approach to their development and achievement from an early age in sports, creative arts and music.

Within our EYFS department, our Extra Curricular Activities (ECA’s) provide pupils with new experiences and build on existing interests in an environment that they are confident and familiar with.

The ECA program is open to all pupils within EYFS, encouraging them to build on collaborative and social skills from an early age with children of a similar age.
