Extra-Curricular Activities to Expand Horizons beyond the Timetabled Curriculum

These school-run activities conducted by our academic staff vary from term to term and year to year depending on children’s choice and staffing. Clubs are held from Monday to Thursday after school. A typical range of clubs and activities includes:

Year 2

Fine Motor Skills

Fine motor club is an opportunity to develop your fine motor skills and communication skills by working with partners. Students will take part in a range of creative activities which support in fine motor development and handwriting skills.

Mathletics Club

An amazing opportunity for students to develop a lifelong love of maths through:
  • Confidence with maths facts fluency
  • Enjoyment of solving maths problems
  • Tackling maths puzzles/games
  • Fun with maths song and play

Yoga & Mindfulness

At Sunmarke, well-being and positivity are at the heart of everything we do. In this yoga and mindfulness club, students get the chance to end the day calmly with some relaxing activities that promote mindfulness, well-being and appreciation.

Multi Sports

Want to get active and have some fun? This club allows children to enjoy energetic activities while being active and blowing off some steam. Students will focus on developing basic movement skills through fun games while coming together to make new friends and work in teams.

Fun with French

This club promotes the love of language and the amazing experiences that come along with learning. Students will get the chance to become more confident in French and learn new vocabulary through games and engaging activities.

Board Games

Strategy and focus are major skills of almost every board game. In this activity, students have the chance to develop these skills in an interactive group setting. Have a favourite board game or one that you think people wouldn’t have played before? Bring it along to Board Games Club and enjoy developing your critical thinking, problem-solving and strategic skills.

Photography Club

If you would like to develop your photography and creative outlook, this is an excellent activity for you. During this club, you will learn about what good photography requires and how to edit and improve your images. Come explore the artist within!

Art Club

Art club gives students the chance to learn and develop art skills, using drawing and sketching techniques you will learn to create inventive and creative artwork. Work alongside other talented students to enhance your creative flair and enjoy learning new things.

Year 3 & Year 4

Book Worms

In Book Worms, students will be able to develop an inner love of reading. In this club, you will read both individually and as a group, writing book reviews and promoting a love of reading across the school.

Creative Writing Club

“Writing is the painting of the voice.” Get your favourite pens ready as we embark on an adventure where your creative dreams can come true. Creative writing club gives all students the chance to develop new vocabulary and enhance their love of writing. Fun and engaging topics ensure students get a chance to develop their own stories.

Digital Art

Are you an aspiring artist or graphic designer? Join the digital art club to develop your digital art skills. You will work collaboratively to grow your understanding of digital artwork using the Sketchbook art application.

Year 3 and Year 4 Choir

Join the Year 3 and Year 4 choir to develop your inner performer. You will have the chance to enhance your creative talents and grow in confidence as you practise a range of songs throughout the term. This is a great chance to start your stage career early.

Year 3 and Year 4 Yoga & Mindfulness

Creators club

Do you enjoy being creative? If so, come along to Creators Club where you will have the opportunity to build your self-esteem, resilience, and gain a sense of accomplishment whilst engaging in fun creative arts and crafts projects.

Maths Stars

Join the Maths Stars to explore maths in a fun and creative way, whilst also showing off your artistic skills! Each week, you will use your maths knowledge to create a piece of colourful and interesting artwork. You will also have the opportunity to explore some challenging maths problems and investigations.

Year 3 and Year 4 Board Games

Coding for beginners

This is a great opportunity to develop your coding skills in a safe and supportive space. The Coding for Beginners club will be able to take students through the key concepts and building blocks of coding in a fun and expressive way.

Poetry Club

With a mix of creative writing skills and performance poetry, this club is perfect to build your confidence in both writing and public speaking. During these sessions, students will be sharing fun and engaging activities which develop key literacy skills.

Zumba Dance

Get fit and active with the Zumba club; you will have had fun dancing and developing your rhythm. An extremely fun and engaging way for students to express themselves and stay active.

Woodwork

Join the woodwork club to gain lots of new key skills. In this club, you will develop your design and technology skills, creating fun and exciting woodwork projects.

Lego Robotics

LET’S CODE LEGO! Build your own LEGO creations, improve your coding skills and have lots of fun working within a team. Student will develop their coding and building skills as they tackle challenges and solve problems.

Mandarin for Beginners Year 3 and Year 4

Keen to become multi-lingual? Then why not learn Mandarin from a native speaker? This class will give you the chance to learn Mandarin in fun and creative ways, filled with language games and interactive tasks.

Year 5 & Year 6

Stop Motion Animation & Green Screen

In this exciting club, students will learn how to create short animated films and clips using stop-motion techniques. A great club to develop your creativity and innovation!

Basketball

Join the basketball club to develop your inner sportsperson. This club is open to all who would like to build skills in a new sport, or anyone who has an existing passion for basketball. We will see you at the 3-point line.

Year 5 and Year 6 Yoga & mindfulness

We are incredibly committed to the well-being of all students. During yoga and mindfulness club, students get the chance to focus on themselves and support their own mental well-being. This has been shown to improve physical and mental health in school-age children. Yoga improves balance and strength.

watercolour Painting

Paint like Monet and Vincent Van Gogh! Dive into the history of some of the most famous painters in the world by indulging in the vibrant and translucent nature of watercolour painting. Its quick-drying qualities mean you can take a new masterpiece home with you every single week!

Sunmarke Newsletter

This club gives students an opportunity to become journalists and discover and write about all of the exciting things that happen at Sunmarke. We will collaboratively create a Sunmarke newsletter for all to read.

Year 5 and Year 6 Fun with French

This club promotes the love of language and the amazing experiences that come along with learning. Students will get the chance to become more confident in French and learn new vocabulary through games and engaging activities.

Textiles Club

In this club, you will have the opportunity to learn unique textiles skills such as hand stitching and machine sewing. Your skills will be developed through fun activities and brought together to create your final product.

Year 3 – 6 Spanish for Natives

HOLA! come and join our Spanish for native speakers ECA. Take the opportunity to practise your spoken and written language skills in a fun and collaborative way. We will explore a variety of topics in Spanish, develop an understanding of Spanish and Latin American traditions through a variety of projects and hands on activities.

Mandarin for Beginners Year 5 and Year 6

Arabic & Islamic

Arabic Educational Games

Come and join our Arabic activities club to have fun with educational games that help you to support your Arabic language skills. We will focus on new vocabulary and spoken Arabic.

Year 5 and Year 6 Arabic Art

Come and join the Arabic art club to explore the exciting and rich world of Arabic art. We will practise art techniques while also learning about the history and culture surrounding Arabic art. Let’s enjoy doing Arts to discover more fun in Arabic.

Islamic Culture

Looking for a fun and educational extracurricular activity? Join our Islamic culture club! This club is open to all students who are interested in learning more about the rich history and traditions of Islam. Through engaging activities and discussions, we explore various aspects of Islamic culture, including art, music, literature, cuisine, and more. Arabic Reading

Are you looking to improve your Arabic reading skills? Look no further than our Arabic Reading Club! Our club is open to students of all levels who are interested in enhancing their reading proficiency in Arabic. Through guided reading sessions, group discussions and interactive activities, you’ll have the opportunity to build your vocabulary, improve your pronunciation, and develop your comprehension skills. Emirati Culture club

Are you fascinated by Emirati culture? Do you want to learn more about the traditions and customs of the United Arab Emirates? Look no further than our Emirati culture club!
