Performing Arts, Media & Communication
Students interested in the Performing Arts, Media & Communication have the opportunity to develop their talents through a deeply arts-infused programme in Music, Theatre, the Visual Arts and/or Dance as well as Media and Communication. In the programme, students devote a significant portion of each week in practice, rehearsal, or studio work.
Students, electing for a more Media and Communication focus, can join Sunmarke’s editorial team where students take on roles as Sunmarke Reporters, producing an online and physical newspaper, podcasts and blogs covering a wide range of subjects. Students develop skills in literacy, presentation, collaboration, and communication besides having a whole lot of fun.
Art and creative thinking are present in all facets of school life. Our Art curriculum, teachers, and expansive Art studios give students the opportunity to develop their creative thinking and own creative voice.

The ‘Life is Beautiful’ – Art Mural
Art Mural, 4m x 100m, personally seen and lauded by Dr. Abdulla Karam, Director General & Chairman of KHDA, Dubai’s education regulator
The Art Department and 20 students from Primary and Secondary collectively created a stunning Arabic calligraffiti mural. It means Positive Purpose in Arabic and represents life at Sunmarke.

Music is woven across the entire curriculum at Sunmarke and is central to school life.
Sunmarke has a Music and Performing Arts Academy where a team of professional music teachers provide students with varied opportunities to learn and take advanced courses in a variety of musical instruments and skills.
At Sunmarke, every student learns an instrument of his or her choice and many develop mastery and choose to prepare for the Trinity/ABRSM music exams. Gifted students are nurtured to consider music as a choice of higher study, while some choose just to have fun jamming in a band. Regardless, all students develop an appreciation of music and enhance their creativity and cognitive abilities through music.
Tune into Sunmarke’s ‘Lunchtime Pop-Up Series‘ where our Sunmarke’s budding musicians perform impromptu jams around school..

Watch the highlights from the ‘Summer Soiree Concert‘ featuring Sunmarke’s brightest talents from Year 3 to Year 10:
With inspirational drama and music teachers and a Auditorium, Black Box studio and several music studios for the Performing Arts, , Sunmarke provides students with the opportunity to access, experience and contribute to various aspects of the creative process from script to stage.
All students participate in whole school theatrical productions either as performers or backstage crew.
Some of our most recent productions include Bugsy Malone and Practically Positively Perfect (an adaptation of Mary Poppins). Our Drama students also regularly enact plays and skits and participate in inter-school competitions.

“Sunmarke is a hotbed of creative talent – the students, teachers, subjects and school. I have always been an artist, interested in music, new media and acting. I found my calling at Sunmarke. It’s here I came into my own. I am now at University in the US studying to become an actor. Remember my name and watch this space – ‘cause one day you are going to watch me at the Oscars ”
