With the battle against climate change being one of the most crucial socio-economic issues defining the times we live in, it is imperative to inculcate an awareness about and concern for the environment, conservation and sustainability at an early age.
Sunmarke’s Forest School Programme is meant to achieve this exact objective. We prepare the next generation of global environmental changemakers who can be inspired to make a positive lifelong impact on their own lives as well as the planet.
This nature-based community helps children learn about the environment and sustainability with various activities designed to develop character, empathy and a sense of wellbeing while getting them to commit towards building a sustainable future for all.
In EYFS, the programme starts with a gentle appreciation of the wonders of nature. As students move up to primary school and secondary school, teachers inspire them to take on more challenging projects involving nature-based discovery and outdoor explorations.
Our Forest School is a place for having fun, nurturing curiosity and learning how to create, collaborate and ideate. Students explore the Sunmarke Forest Garden under the guidance of teachers who inspire them to observe, interact with and preserve our natural habitat.
We garden, water, and nurture our plants and trees, grow and harvest organic vegetables in the Vegetable Garden and discuss ideas in our Zen Garden. The programme also involves study of the bio-diversity in nature, their interdependence, and ways to maintain this ecosystem.
Students are taught how to make biodegradable products. They engage in conservation activities at the beach, neighbourhoods, and the desert. They are also encouraged to petition for global change and preservation of the environment in its purest form.
