PosEd places character, values and wellbeing as central to achieving high academics and personal goals. Sunmarke is a recognised global leader in PosEd amongst schools by the International Positive Education Network (IPEN), USA.

The integration of PosEd in our curriculum is based on several studies which prove that enhanced academic engagement, social skills, optimism and fewer mental health related issues are directly proportional to a child’s wellbeing.
Positive Education is not an additional subject but the very culture of our school. Sunmarke’s teachers are trained in Positive Education and every element it entails before they enter a classroom.

Our PosEd and Wellbeing approach makes our school community a safe, welcoming, nurturing environment for students. These initiatives are embedded into the daily routines, curriculum, and extracurricular activities, creating the necessary support each child needs for growth.
Class and Form Tutors, Heads of Year, and Subject teachers make a conscious effort to help students either through direct intervention and teaching or through mentoring, conducting workshops and assemblies.
Our Counselling Department stands firmly behind students providing them with professional support as well as healing through compassionate non-judgmental listening. Students and parents also have access to school counsellors for any emotional problems they face at school and beyond.
Additional support is provided by our Wellbeing Champion who represents the school leadership on our Parent Association and “Friends of Sunmarke School” (FOSS) groups.
Special mention must also go to our unique initiative, the ‘Wellness Wednesday’ event. A workshop held every month for parents and the larger community, ‘Wellness Wednesday’ gives deeper insight into parenting and issues affecting children, be it digital literacy, health or nutrition, to name just a few topics.
Sunmarke has a designated Safeguarding and Child Protection Team with Child Protection Officers at every Key Stage in primary and secondary school.
